For the parent of a nervous beginner

"I CAN DO HARD THINGS."

If your child is nervous about trying something new, that's normal — and it's welcome here. We don't expect a 4-year-old to walk in confident. We help them build it. They start with the simplest movement, get a high five, try again, and slowly realize they can do more than they thought. Belonging is given the moment they walk in. The rest is earned, gently, at their pace.

How Confidence Is Built

CONFIDENCE ISN'T GIVEN. IT'S BUILT.

No one walks in feeling ready. Readiness is what you build, one step at a time, inside a room that expects effort — not perfection.

01

Start

Begin with beginner-friendly instruction. No experience expected, no judgment — just a clear first move anyone can make.

02

Practice

Repeat the fundamentals with partners at your level until they start to feel natural instead of awkward.

03

Get coached

Instructors watch, adjust, and explain why a movement works — and when it doesn't — so you understand, not just copy.

04

Face a challenge

Take on a manageable drill that stretches your current ability without overwhelming it. Hard enough to matter, not so hard it breaks you.

05

Improve

Feel the difference between last week and this week. Small wins stack into real skill you can feel under pressure.

06

Recognize progress

Mark what you earned. Belonging is given the moment you walk in — achievement is something you built, rep by rep.

What You'll Learn

THE TIGERS CURRICULUM

Listening & focus

Following instructions, staying with a task, and paying attention — the same skills that help at home and in school.

Coordination & balance

Basic movement, body control, and spatial awareness through drills that feel like play.

Basic martial arts

Simple blocks, kicks, and stances taught at a pace a young child can actually do.

Self-control

Learning to wait your turn, try again after a miss, and use your body calmly.

The Absolute Standard

THREE VALUES WE LIVE BY

The standard isn't a rank or a belt. It's how we train — and how we treat each other. Excellence means effort and attention, not perfection.

Relentless

Take the next step.

Progress isn't about being perfect. It's about showing up again after a hard day, a missed technique, or a tough round. Relentless means you keep stepping — one rep, one class, one try at a time.

Integrity

Own your actions.

We tell the truth about our effort — to ourselves and our training partners. Integrity means owning mistakes, making them right, and training honestly even when no one is watching.

Excellence

Give your best attention and effort.

Excellence isn't perfection. It's the choice to be fully present and give your best effort right now — on the days you feel strong and the days you don't. Attention and effort, repeated, become a standard.

Beyond the Mat

MORE CAPABLE ON THE MAT. MORE CONFIDENT IN LIFE.

The skills your child practices on the mat are the same ones that help them off it — not because we promise a transformation, but because effort and attention, repeated, show up everywhere.

At home

Listening the first time, trying again after a hard moment, and using words instead of frustration.

At school

Sitting with attention, following directions, and feeling proud of trying something new.

With friends

Taking turns, being kind, and knowing it's okay to keep practicing when something is hard.
